I just upgraded (through the automatic softwrare update) to Quicktime 6.5.
Now, everytime I boot up, I get a registration screen that wants my serial
number. I can just cancel and continue, but it's a pain in the butt.
How/where can I get this serial number, or...how can I get this registration
screen to stop popping up?

thanks much,

here:
http://www.apple.com/quicktime/download/

But that's to 'transform' QT player into QT Pro, and it's not for free!

It shouldn't keep popping up. It only pops up on my system when I
upgrade and then I click continue with an empty serial number box
and that is it gone until the next upgrade. Are you sure the serial
number box is empty when you click continue?

This will happen every time you launch Quicktime Player for the first
time that day.

There are two ways to stop it:
1. Pay for the upgrade to Quicktime Pro. That will fix it permanently
(or at least until Apple decides to release a chargeable upgrade).
2. Set your Mac's clock ahead, say ten years. Launch QuickTime Player,
and go through the routine of clicking "Later". Quit QuickTime Player,
and reset your clock to the right date. That should fix it for the
forseeable future...

But don't blame me if something else gets its knickers in a twist over
the change of date in the brief time you are doing this!
